Depression & Suicide
I put so much pressure
TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I put so much pressure on myself to perform well in school. I feel stressed all the time and I'm sick of life. I just want to die. I don't want people to tell me not to kill myself. I know I won't. I just feel like dying. I don't want to live but I don't want to kill myself.
TEEN LINE WROTE:
I really appreciate you contacting TEEN LINE. It sounds like you are pretty overwhelmed with all of the stress you're feeling. It's really important to remember the things that you truly enjoy in life, and taking breaks from school work sometimes is okay. Maybe writing a journal or pursuing a passion can serve as an outlet. Also, spending time with friends or even taking some time for yourself can be a great way to release some stress. Talking to a friend or a trusted adult, like a therapist or counselor, might also really help you. Although you mentioned you didn't plan on harming yourself, I'd like to give you a website, suicidepreventioncenter.org, that can provide help for even people who don't plan on killing themselves. Also, they have a hot line whose number is 1-800-784-2433. You can also talk or chat with us online. Our number is (310)855-4673, and we're here from 6-10PM (PST).
