Depression & Suicide
I honestly don't know what the right question
TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I honestly don't know what the right question is to ask but how do I talk to family members about my depression and suicide problems when no one is willing to take me seriously? I'm not even sure how to open this subject to my doctor either. If you have any advise for me, please let me know.
TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hi, I'm glad you have contacted TEEN LINE.
It can definitely be tough to bring up the topic of depression to your family. Maybe you can practice what you would say, or try talking to a friend about it. Depression and suicide are serious topics, and I'm glad you are putting in effort to try to talk to your parents. I hope you will be able to convey your feelings to them. Here is also a great contact: Suicide Prevention Hotline 1(877)727-4747. They will understand your feelings and give you guidance to get help. I also encourage you to call us here at TEEN LINE from 6pm to 10pm PST at 1(310)855-4673 or chat with us online at teenlineonline.org at the same time.
