Hey...I am a 18 year old dude and dress pretty much glammed out everyday. I probably own more hairspray and makeup than most girls...Like if you see a picture of the the bands Hanoi Rocks or CRASHDÏET yeah you've seen me pretty much. My problem is I am straight but because of how I dress everyone assumes I am gay or bisexual. Even my parents. I am totally straight but can't seem to make anyone believe me. How can I keep my style and still maybe convince people that I am straight and not totally girlie? I don't want to change myself to fit a stereotype that I didn't fit in to begin with.

Hi teenline im just going to come out with it im gay I've been gay for about a year. I've already toled my two friends who are girls but im really nevouse to tell my family mostly my dads sidecause dosnt like the factor of being gay and when i tell my brother he'll feel guilty aboutnot spending enough time with me only the girls of my familywould be ok with it but i dont know how to tell them help me teenline

Hi, thanks for contacting TEEN LINE, it must be really difficult holding in how you feel, especially from your own family. its really brave to try and tell your family. Have you though about talking to a trusted adult or even your mother first and have them help guide you through telling others. Also have you considered having a friend there to help loosen the tension. No matter what way you do it, think through how you are going to tell people. i am a lesbain and many poeple have asked me why, or if i was ever treated wrong by a guy when i was younger. and ive come to the conclusion that it might have someting to do when my older brother moilested me when i was younger. i mean i have fallen in love with my gf and would never leave her but i do wonder if its because of my brother that i don't really trust guy all that much and that i dont have feelings towards them at all.

Just so you know, there is nothing at all wrong about being bisexual. Have you spoken to anyone about this, other than your mom? Therapist, school counselor, friend, relative, or teacher?
