TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
During this year I had to see a doctor cause my parentd felt I was underweight. The doctor sent me to this councelling place, at the time I was in denial even thoe I was skipping meals and If i got made to eat I would purge. After 5 months I was slowly getting better and my parnets felt they could deal with it themselves so I stopped seeing a counceller. It never really got addressed again my parents just ignored the issue and made me eat. I am now on holiday In austalia and my parents are not and I feel like I am slipping into my old habbits and I cant stop. Im scared im getting fat because I am not at home doing my usual week of ballet and school. If I eat a meal I istantly purge and I just dont feel hungry ever. I dont know what to do. I have been on holiday for 3 weeks now and have lost 5kg.

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey! Thank so much for coming to TEEN LINE with this issue. It sounds like you are feeling a little scared right now and i think its really brave of you to reach out for help like this. I really want to commend you on being so aware of yourself. Because you are on vacation it is probably going to be a little difficult for you to get professional help, so I am going to recommend you visit this website: http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/. Through that site you can find some resources that may give you temporary support for your eating disorder. Also, could you somehow reach your parents, just so they are aware when you get back of the setback you are dealing with. When you do return home, it could be really helpful to return to counseling. As you said, it seems that you still have some issues to work through with a therapist.

Also, you can contact our hotline. Our listeners would be happy to provide you with more information regarding eating disorders as well as simply discussing your situation with you. We are open everyday from 6-10 PST and our number is 310-855-4673, you can also live chat with us via our website during these hours (which may be more practical for you as is appears that you have contacted us from outside of the country). Thanks so much for contacting us and good luck!

TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I have been on out of school for a month on track out. And since then I have been constantly eating. I am getting scared because i think my legs are getting huge and bigger! My parents say i am skinny but I think otherwise. I cut soda out of my diet for 2 months now. I dont know what to do! i am not going to starve myself but maby go hump to many sizes. I dont want to end up like my ex- friend who is 168 pounds. What should I do?

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey! Thanks so much for emailing TEEN LINE. It sounds like you are pretty concerned about gaining weight. A lot of teens feel self-conscious but the way that they handle that feeling is what is important. There are healthy ways to feel better about yourself like exercising and eating healthier. Im really glad to hear that you aren't planning on starving yourself because that is a really unhealthy and also dangerous way to handle your feelings. Is there anyone you feel comfortable talking to about this? Maybe a family member, close friend, or even a school counselor? You can also always call us here at TEEN LINE. We are here from 6 to 10 PST every night to talk at (310)855-4673.
