TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I need somebody to talk too... imma senior in high school and I've gotten into gifts with all my friends. Most ended up getting into physical fights not just verbal. I feel hella desertted! So much is going on that I don't know what to do or how to handle it. I can't find a job and I don't know how or where to apply for college. My parents aren't there for me like I need them to be because they done like how I'm not a perfect christian like they want me to be so they basically have given up on me. I have anxiety attacks almost every other day at least cuz I have no one to talk to. Obviously I'm at my breaking point because I would never have thought to do some shit like this. I need help because I ONE...can't keep punching shit when I get angry cuz my hands can't take it anymore. and TWO...I don't have enough money to smoke or drink my emotions anymore DUDE HELP!!! fOR REAL!!!!

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey, thanks for e-mailing us. It sounds like you're going through a lot right now and are feeling really lonely. It must be really hard getting in fights with your friends and not getting along with your parents. I'm glad that you're talking to us at TEEN LINE because it shows that you're ready to make a change in your life. Have you ever thought about talking to a school counselor about colleges or getting a job? You could even talk to the counselor about everything else that's been going on. You talked about smoking and drinking when you're feeling upset...not only does that not solve anything it is also extremely unhealthy for your body. Maybe as an alternative, you could try other hobbies like listening to music or playing sports or something that you like to do. I really encourage you to call us at TEEN LINE. Our number is (310)-855-4673 and we're open everyday from 6-10 pm PST.

TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
What can i do about my anger? I get extremely mad at the drop of a hat. Just an example... The other day i was playing a game on my computer and i got instantly pissed about something that went wrong. So i just flat out punched the monitor... the thing is i didn't realize it until after i did it. I have realized that most of the time when i get angry i do get physical, and am kind of afraid that one day i am goin to hurt someone close to me and not be able to help it. i do not have insurance or money to get medicine so what should i do?

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey,
It sounds like you are really concerned that you might hurt someone unintentionally. It is a really big step to realize that and it is great that you are trying to take action to prevent it. Anger is a powerful thing. The fact that you do not realize your anger has turned to violence is scary, so wanting to get help is definitely the way to go. I am wondering if you know why you get so angry? Maybe these are things you could explore in counseling. I know that you said you have financial issues, but there are counseling centers that are either free or sliding scale, which means they are low cost. You could do a google search for a counseling center near you. Also, maybe you could consider going to an anger management program. They, along with counseling, can help you work out what is causing your anger and different techniques to control it. For the time being, however, if you feel like you starting to get angry, could you walk out of the room and leave your current environment? That way, if you do start to get physical, no one would be around to get hurt. Also, exercising or writing in a journal when you get angry may help so you could burn up some steam and get your emotions out. If you want to talk more you can call us at TEEN LINE at 310-855-4673 between 6pm and 10pm PST.

TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
Hey my question is that i want to go in medical field what i don't know what should i do first for example i want to be a cardilogist what i don't know how much time it will take me to do it. Do you know any other majors in medical field that we can do not more than 8 years. Thank you very much! A_________

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey, it's great that you have an idea of what you want to be in the future. Have you talked with your school counselor about it? They might be able to give you a better overview of what you are interested in. Or some adults around you might have more info. about cardiologists.
Also, just looking up 'cardiologist' in the internet could yield alot of information.

I hope you find what you want,

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey, thanks for contacting TEEN LINE.

I can understand why you're feeling a mix of emotions - confusion, stress, overwhelmed - as to what you should do with your friend. I can tell that you really care about your friend. It seems like your friend is going through a lot right now, have you considered talking to her about everything that's going on? Is there anybody that you can talk to ? Like a close friend, or a family member ? It might help you to get all of these things off of your chest. If you want to talk you can call TEEN LINE (or give your friend our number) at 310-855-4673 from 6PM to 10PM PST. We'd be glad to talk.
