Youth Yellow Pages: Child Care & Parenting Resources
|
“I have a baby and I have to support myself. I need to find
affordable daycare so that I can work.” - 18 year old
Here’s a frightening fact: the average pre-school aged
child receives only 32 positive messages each day but
over 400 negative messages!
No one receives training on how to be a parent, let alone
how to be a good parent. If your parents gave you only
negative messages, chances are you’ll give only negative
messages to your child; if your parents hit you, chances
are you’ll hit your child, and a cycle of abuse will continue.
The agencies listed below can direct you to a variety of
resources for parents: parenting classes, support
groups, counseling, and child care. Also check with
your school nurse or school counselor for other referrals.
