About Teen Line: Funder's Page

TEEN LINE has a unique ability to reach teenagers because teens form the core of our organization … they speak the same language. We created our teen-to-teen Hotline and Community Outreach Program 27 years ago, offering troubled teenagers a ‘safe haven’ – a place to talk things out with another teen in a nurturing, confidential and non-judgmental environment. Teens call because they trust us.

• The hotline receives almost 9,000 calls each year
• More than 35,000 attend our outreaches to schools & community groups
• Our website receives more than 140,000 ‘hits’ from all over the world
• We have provided Suicide Prevention Training to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Juvenile Procedures’ School since 1996
• Certified by the American Association of Suicidology (1-800-SUICIDE)

TEEN LINE, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, is affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry, which supplies in-kind support of office space and related expenses, but no direct funding. TEEN LINE is funded by individual donations, grants from private and corporate foundations and an annual benefit luncheon. We receive no governmental or United Way funding. We have Satellite Hotlines in the San Fernando Valley and Riverside County in affiliation with Tarzana Treatment Centers and the Riverside County Office of Education.
