TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I have a boyfriend and we both got caught doing something bad by my mom... and when my mom confronted us about it he wouldnt admit what he did because he didnt want his dad to find out. He did end up telling his dad and wrote my mom an email apologizing for everything. But how do i get my mom to trust him again?

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hi,
High School relationships sometimes seem to be difficult because it is not easy for teens to deal with the concerns of their parents. First off, the way your boyfriend has handled the situation seems very safe and honest. Sometimes it can take time for parents to forgive and forget these types of situations. Do you think that you and your boyfriend have given your mother enough time for herself to think about the situation on her own? Maybe your mother would find it easier to regain her trust in your boyfriend after she has had a while for herself. Have you talked to your mother one on one about your boyfriend? Have you let her know how much you want her to trust your boyfriend? Another possible option for you is to approach your mother with both you and your boyfriend, and you all could have a mature talk together. If you have already tried these options, maybe your boyfriend can talk one on one with your mother.

I hope everything goes well and i hope you chose the safest and most comfortable way to make things work.

If you would like to talk some more about the situation, feel free to call TEEN LINE seven days a week from 5:30-10:00 PM (PCT) at (310) 855-4673.
