TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
hey; I posted a question about a month ago and it never got answered. my problem now has nothing to do with the previous problem that I wanted help with. I just decided to forget it; I feel so worthless I just want to die. I've felt this way many times, but the feeling usually just goes away. two years ago I felt this way for four months straight, and I've felt like this again since January. my parents are totally against counseling, so I can't see a counselor (I know, they're dumb) they say counseling is for people who are craazy. I've tried to convince them many times in the past to allow me to see a counselor but no luck. I called you guys b4 but I no longer have a cellphone, and am currently living in Mexico for a semester so I can no longer call you guys. i tried the chat, but even when it says ur online It says i click and it says no one is online. I could list my friends; but I can't count on them (yes inspired by dashboard confessional) my school in Mex has no extra curricular activities so I can't do anything there; and everyone at my school smokes drinks and does drugs. I don't wanna get into that, so I never go out with them I'm sure you've understood how horrible I feel.

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hello,
Thank you so much for contacting us.

Your message has really concerned me and i am glad that you contacted us. It sounds like you are feeling depressed and very alone, and it is very good that you are sharing these feelings with us.
You mentioned that the LIVE CHAT was not working, but it is possible that it could have been just that day that it was down... I recommend you trying again. Sometimes it will tell you that it is not available because there is another chat going on. Sorry for that.

When you have felt like this in the past, what did you do to cope with it?
Maybe you can try doing this again to get through what you are going through.

I want you to realize that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
There are other options than killing yourself. I understand that you may be feeling that suicide is the only solution because you are in a very difficult situation, however, I feel that if you explore other options you might be able to find something else that works better for you and isn't harmful to you.
Have you tried talking to your friends or a school counselor about the way you are feeling? Maybe that would help get you through it and not acting upon these thoughts. One of the things that you could try when you are feeling depressed or suicidal is engaging in an activity or hobby that you enjoy.

It must be frustrating to have parents that do not believe in something you feel you need.
It is good that you want to help yourself and it must hurt that your parents do not agree with you.
I'm sure that being in a new place and without a cellphone must be very hard and it seems as though you are feeling very isolated because of all this. It is very tough to have to deal with all the stress of being in a new place, especially if you parents are not supportive of you wanting a counselor, and therefore not receiving the help you need. If you feel that you cannot keep yourself safe and that you need immediate help in order to not follow through with committing suicide then you can always go to the local clinic or emergency room and they will be happy to help you out in any way possible.

It is very good that you stated that you do not want to get into drugs and drinking.
When feeling alone and depressed it can be easy to fall into doing things of that sort.
It takes a strong person to not give into peer pressure.

Do you have anybody that you are talking to?
you said your friends are unreliable.
Is there anyone else who you could talk to that would be a more reliable source?
Do you have any siblings that will be understanding of the way you are feeling?
Is there a teacher from your normal school that you feel you can open up to?
Talking to someone is really beneficial when you are going through a tough situation.

If you still feel depressed or if it gets worse, feel free to call or email us. Our number is 310-855-4673. Or call this number: 5658111, and ask for joven a joven. They are a suicide HOT LINE in Mexico.
