TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
How do i know if I am addicted to drugs?
TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
Here are a few ways that may indicate if you have a possible addiction:
- Your using is interfering with your life in some way
- people in your life think you are an addict/ people are confronting you about your using of drugs
-feels like alcohol or drugs is your primary relationship
- You are skipping activities that you would normally do to drink or to use drugs
-drinking or drugs is how you are dealing with difficult situations
It sounds like you are worried about this, and i have respect for you for caring about your life and yourself.
It is always scary to not be sure about something, and i am glad that you are opening up to us about it.
Have you thought about telling a school counselor about what has been going on?
What about a friend, a trusted adult, or a teacher?
Talking to someone that understands you can really help reduce anxiety and help you better deal with situations.
