TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I like girls (I'm a girl too by the way) and I've tried to tell my parents, but whenever I try they block me out, and it hurts...a lot. Whenever I try we end up getting into fights...and I've been thinking of cutting again and I don't want to, but lately it's all I think about and I hate it. I want them to accept me, but they won't. and when we get into fights or when I think about how I have to hide myself it hurts inside, and then I think of cutting again...please help me.
TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey,
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It seems like you feel as if you have to hide away your true self from your family. It must be tough feeling shut down by your parents. Many people around your parents age have difficulty accepting same-sex relationships. Have you tried talking to someone else about this? Maybe a friend or a school counselor? It looks like you want to be accepted and you deserve that. Talking to someone can really help the situation and make things better for you.
Cutting, however, is not the answer to your problems. There are serious risks involving cutting. Cutting is very dangerous and can lead to an infection or even an accidental death. Have you tried releasing your energy in a positive way? You can play sports, do art, or any other activity you enjoy doing. I really hope everything works out for you.
