TEEN QUESTION/PROBLEM:
I've been struggling with an eating disorder for about 2 years now. I just want to be normal. I need help and someone to talk to.

TEEN LINE WROTE:
Hey,
It must be very tough for you both emotionally and physically to be struggling with an eating disorder. It's really great and brave of you that you have recognized that you have an eating disorder, and that you want to do something about it. Many people don't ever admit they have an issue with food and eating. Do you have a trusted friend or adult that you feel comfortable talking about this problem with? Are you currently seeing a therapist? You might want to talk to a therapist about this situation if you do not already have one already. You can also ask your doctor about a good treatment center or for a referral for a therapist. Do your parents know about this? You can also call an eating disorder hotline that can connect you with referrals, resources, and local treatment centers. The number for (NEDA) National Eating Disorder Association is (800)931-2237. Please feel welcome to call us at (310)855-HOPE so we talk more and sort this out. We are open from 6pm to 10pm PST.
