You have to want to stop to stop

Postby Sarika_Carlin » Tue Sep 20, 2011 3:10 pm

I've seen a common pattern in my life and in others around me. You have to be sick and tired to stop. I hit my bottom recently. I'm a recovering meth addict. I've been told so many things about how i should just stop using drugs that im going to die. I didnt give a flying f*** If you wanted to stop you'd do anything to stop thats what ive been told. You dont need rehab. If you can't get into rehab go to NA and AA meetings. That was my problem my insurance would not pay for rehab. I used it as a excuse to continue my using. Throwing up in the toliet didnt phase me. It just didnt. Over dosing didnt scare me. It just didnt. Dying even didnt cross my mind. I didnt want to but if it happened it happened. That was my logic. Im just saying if you really want to change. Get up and do something about it. You have the power! We all do. Im trying to be postive and blunt about this. No one on can make you change only you can make your self change. You can ask for support along the way that is needed. Dont do it all on your own.

Dear Sarika,

I'm sorry that you've been dealing with this addiction for so long, but I'm so glad that you have decided to make a change in your life. It's really courageous of you make such a huge change. It must have felt terrible to feel like you've hit rock bottom. I've found that some really helpful ways to cope with feeling like you want to use again is to just take a walk or get some fresh air. You can also try looking up NA meetings in your area if you need some extra support. Anyways, I really hope I help in some way, and please feel free to call teenline whenever you need someone to talk to.

I'm not saying that I need help with this. I'm already currently getting help with it and i am doing just fine atm. This post was for the things i see. The people who do feel helpless with they're drug use. You have to want to stop to stop. I had to hit my rock bottom and stop feeling sorry for myself for something to change. I am a month clean today because I did what i needed to do to get sober. And yes it's hard getting and being sober but it only gets better.
