Debates on religion

I'm doing a project for my history class and it has to be about any debate in history. I want mine to have something to do with religion such as separation of church and state. If any one knows of any debates that would fit this category please help me out.

America was started on religion, yet broke away from the Church of England to form it's own new ways. They wanted some sort of freedom.

Isn't is amazing how bots, or so-called "teenagers," (aka mathew791) dig up topics that were first posted clear back in Dec. of 2010.
